Welcome to the International Shrine Aviation Association web site.

The ISAA is a non-profit association devoted to promoting pilot proficiency and aviation safety. One way of doing this is with our Mid-Winter fly-in and competition held in various locations around the country.

It is our goal to assist Shrine Associations and Temples in establishing aviation units and clubs.

It is also our objective to promote cordiality and good fellowship among our members.

MID-WINTER’S IN GALVESTON WAS A HUGE SUCCESS!

Commander Buck Buckner and Lady Becky

WOW, Thanks to all of you who attended Mid-Winter’s in Galveston and made this meeting and festivities such a positive success!  We were pleased to have the Potentate of El Mina Temple in Galveston, Frank Schurwon and Lady Jo Ann as our honored guests for the weekend.  They were part of a large group attending a tour of the Johnson Space Center, and a good time was had by all.  They also arranged and accompanied us on our tour of the Shrine Burn Center in Galveston and helped provide us with lasting memories of all the hard and rewarding work that the Shriner’s and I.S.A.A. contribute to this worthy cause.  Rain was forecast for the entire weekend but held off for all events.  We were blessed in so many ways, particularly in renewing and making new friendships.

Potentate Frank and Lady Jo Ann joined us for a formal gathering at Gaido’s Restaurant on the seawall in Galveston for delicious food and social hour.  They invited 2nd Ceremonial Master Crickett Easley and Lady Brenda of El Mina to attend, and we were delighted to have them join us.  Also attending were John Blaydoe and Lady Frances, Don Karna and Lady Gladys, Bob Pickle and Lady Jennifer, Deo Carter and Lady Vivian, Eldon Schumaker and Lady Glenna, George Odell and Lou Laurich.  Special recognition was made by Lady Becky of our first Honorary Ambassadress, Lady Frances Sparks, and each Lady was recognized individually for their support of the I.S.A.A.  Lady Jo Ann handed out special gifts to all the ladies present.  We were disappointed that some who planned to attend were unable to do so because of weather issues, illness or other reasons.  Some of these were Don Tyndall, Jack Copenhaver and Dick Russell along with Chuck Zuvers, who was bringing his Bonanza, and Lady Jamey.  Coming with them were Alvin and Terry Griffin who were bringing their V-tail Bonanza.  Steve and Bev Untrif were riding with Alvin, and Carl and Cherolyn Baxter were bringing their Grumman Cheetah We hope to see all of you who didn’t make it to Galveston in St. Louis for Imperial.  Many thanks to all of you who were in Galveston for your participation in the best Mid-Winter’s yet!  It was a wonderful time of friendship and camaraderie!  See you all in St. Louis!
