Message ~
Here
we are: The Mid-Year Conference is behind us and work
has started on setting up for the Imperial Annual
I.S.A.A. Meeting. Just a little about the Mid-Year
which was held in Memphis, TN on
the weekend of Feb. 27 & 28, 2009. I think it went very
well with the Commander, one Vice Commander, and the
Secretary/Treasurer present. There were four Past
Commanders, one Ambassador, and one Honorary
Ambassadress present for the weekend.
There
were a few things that were discussed at the meeting,
one of which was to try and get a third get-together for
nothing more than a fly-in and competition which might
bring more of our members together. The feeling, among
some of the members present, was we are not getting more
members to come because in the last few years we have
not had a flying competition. Another thing was, part
of our mission was omitted from our membership
application, and that has already been taken care of and
a few new applications have been made up to last July.
New applications will be made at that time with the new
officers’ names on them.
On to San Antonio, TX!
Now, on
we go to the Imperial Annual Meeting which will be held
in San Antonio, TX. We will be at the Drury Plaza Hotel for
the weekend of July 3 & 4, 2009. Drury Plaza Hotel is
on The River Walk where all the action will be. This
area is where the Imperial Session will be held starting
July 5, 2009. The address for the Drury Plaza Hotel is
105 S. St. Mary’s St.,
San Antonio, TX, 78205. Their phone number so you can
make your own room reservation is (201) 270-7799. I
have 15 rooms blocked so far. When you make your
reservations, tell them you are with I.S.A.A. to get our
rate of $185.00 for a room with 2 queen-sized beds. The
rooms have a lot of extras. Also a hot breakfast is
provided free each morning as well as free drinks and
snacks each afternoon at the Manager’s Party. I will
arrive there Thursday afternoon so I can get set up
Friday morning for our Hospitality and Meeting Room.
The
Saturday evening banquet will be held at the Texas Land and Cattle Steakhouse, which I am
told, is across the street from our hotel. Lou
Laurich has set the banquet
up and it looks and sounds very good. This will be a
family-style dinner after you choose your entrée. The
entrees are: 10 oz. Smoked Sirloin for red meat;
Grilled Chicken or Grilled Trout for you non-red meat
eaters and others. The side dishes will be for all
entrees and will be served family-style (1 serving per 2
guests). All dinners come with bread and soft drink,
iced-tea or coffee. Please send your banquet
reservations back to me with your choice of entrée by
June 10, 2009. The cost for the banquet will be $28.00
per person which covers meal, tax and tip.
