About the new Commander

Louis Laurich, Commander I.S.A.A. was elected during the 2009 Imperial
Session in San Antonio. Commander Laurich entered Masonry in 1969 at National
Lodge 568 in Barberton, Ohio. He later joined Akron, Ohio Scottish Rite in 1973. and
Tadmor Shrine Temple in 1981.

He served in Tadmor's Public Relations unit as an editor and photographer
for the Temple’s Shrine News. During the early personal computer days, he worked
with Dr. William R. Dial of Akron at the Erie Shrine Hospital when the Apple Computer
was introduced there for the children. Other Masonic affiliations are Cuyahoga Falls
York Rite, Knight Masons of Ireland, High Twelve and Tadmor’s Legion of Honor and
the Ambassadors.

Lou's community work has been with the Barberton, Ohio Red Cross as
Disaster Chairman, United Way Board member and provided radio service to the
Barberton Fire Department and Summit County Sheriff's Department. During the
aftermath of Hurricane Hugo, he served as a Courier for the Red Cross Hurricane
Headquarters in Orangeburg, S.C.

Commander Lou is an electrical engineer from the University of Akron, 1971
and retired in 2008. He began flying in 1973 and holds a private pilot with instrument
rating license and is a instrument ground instructor. He teaches instrument flying at
Medina (1G5) airport, is a FAA Safety Team Representative and is an Angel Flight
pilot. His military service has been with the Army National Guard based at the Akron-
Canton Airport (CAK) in Ohio.
